We Bring Nature Indoors!

Eldergrow is currently looking to partner with an Educator to teach in the communities listed below. Eldergrow offers a therapeutic connection through innovative horticultural classes and services. We bring nature indoors to seniors living in long-term care and skilled nursing communities.

Eldergrow Educators are friendly, outgoing, and enthusiastic! An ideal candidate is comfortable being in a dementia care setting, speaking in front of groups, performing garden maintenance, training staff, and providing therapeutic programming classes. This role is largely about being a conversationalist and making a connection with seniors (often people living with dementia) while building relationships with the community staff.

Eldergrow Educators are Independent Contractors:

• This is a part-time contract position with long-term opportunities. Currently, the time commitment is approx 35 hours per month
• A stipend is paid based on the number of gardens managed at approx. $22-23/hour.

Skills and Qualification include:

• Strong gardening skills.
• Experience working with people living with physical and/or cognitive limitations; dementia care and skilled nursing experience a plus.
• Must have access to dependable internet, a computer, and color printer.
• Must have experience using email and Google Apps such as Google Drive.
• We require that educators upload photos after every visit, so a smartphone is helpful.
• Able to pass a background check to work with vulnerable populations.
• Insured vehicle required – you will drive to communities who have signed up for our service and occasionally pick up gardening supplies.
• Must be able to stand for at least an hour at a time.
• Able to kneel/bend down to maintain the garden.
• Must be able to push a large 400 lb. mobile garden on wheels (not lift).
• Must be able to lift a 40 lb. bag of soil.
• Be able to agree to a one-year commitment.
• Must be willing to join and participate in the community Facebook group.

To be considered, please send a resume and cover letter to talent.team@eldergrow.org.

give. inspire. be rewarded.

We’re in a powerful moment of growth and our vision is to continue to own this space that connects nature to our elders living in senior living communities — so that our elders can benefit from the power of therapeutic horticulture. Not only does therapeutic horticulture help to improve motor skills, self-esteem, and sleep—it’s been documented to reduce dementia risk factors by 36%.

We are looking for dynamic individuals who can continue our company’s acceleration and can help us grow.

What We Believe:
We believe our elders matter. Eldergrow empowers senior citizens physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually through the transformative magic of therapeutic gardening.

How it works:
Our mobile, wood gardens are handcrafted by Military Veterans and other adults living with disabilities in the Pacific Northwest and delivered to senior living communities. Residents tend to the gardens and receive a sense of renewed purpose. We offer two programs: A therapeutic horticulture program delivered by Expert Educators who host therapeutic gardening classes and maintain the sensory gardens. Our new culinary herb garden is D-I-Y programs for facilities and brings ‘farm to fork’ into senior living through an innovative Herb of the Month program. We also offer two innovative kits.
